Step back in time and celebrate the heart of the Romanian winter at Docmanov Vineyards & Winery.

Join us on Saturday, December 5th, 2026, for a special evening dedicated to the most beloved and authentic Romanian holiday tradition: The Winter Pig Celebration (Tăierea Porcului).

For generations, a few days before Christmas, Romanian families would gather to prepare for the harsh winter. The pig has always been a sacred and essential animal in our culture—it was the source of sustenance that kept families fed through the freezing months. From this tradition came the rich, delicious foods we crave today: fresh sausages, savory pork scratchings (șorici), and hearty stews.

This event is designed to bring back the nostalgia of childhood. We want you to remember the excitement of watching the preparation, the smell of the woodfire, and the taste of fresh pomana porcului shared with loved ones.

Set in Our Cellar Among the Wine Barrels:

This intimate celebration will take place indoors in our cellar, surrounded by our aging wine barrels. The rustic atmosphere, warm lighting, and rich scent of oak and wine will transport you straight to a traditional Romanian winter gathering—cozy, authentic, and full of heart.

What to Expect:

• A Taste of Tradition: Indulge in a feast of traditional Romanian delicacies prepared from the pig, paired perfectly with Docmanov's finest wines.

• Mulled Wine (Vin Fiert): Warm up with a glass of traditional Romanian mulled wine—spiced, sweet, and comforting—an essential part of this holiday celebration that brings families together around the fire.

• Colindători – Romanian Christmas Carols: Be moved by the beautiful voices of our colindători, who will fill the cellar with traditional Romanian colinde (carols), bringing the true spirit of Christmas to life.

• Special Guest – Trupa Autentic: Get ready to dance the night away! Our special guest, Trupa Autentic, will be performing live, playing the hits that will make you want to celebrate and enjoy the night in true Romanian style.

• Nostalgia & Community: Share stories of winters past and create new memories as we honor the animal that sustained our ancestors.

Ticket Price: $125 per person — includes the full traditional dinner experience, wine, mulled wine, colinde, and live entertainment.
