CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Local bands in Folsom can compete for a spot opening for Matteo Mancuso at a free Battle of the Bands event on Jan. 9 at 8:00 pm (doors open at 7:00 with kitchen/bar service at 5:00); guidelines are on The Boardwalk website. Folsom Times
- ➤ Petty Jack Flash will perform a tribute show featuring the classic hits of Tom Petty and the Rolling Stones at the Powerhouse Pub, where local fans can rock out and enjoy live music in a lively setting. Folsom Times
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Folsom Lake reached 100% conservation storage early this week when heavy rains and snowmelt quickly raised its levels, and dam operators increased controlled releases (using hydropower and spill ways) to keep the water safe. They plan to adjust flows as storms continue to add runoff to the reservoir. Folsom Times
- ➤ DESRI (D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments) will continue developing the Coyote Creek Agrivoltaic Ranch project near Folsom after SMUD canceled its power purchase agreement; approved by Sacramento County in November, the project will support county climate goals and boost local economic growth while preserving oak woodlands.
