  • Micro Biz Launchpad is set to host Launchpad Weekend (March 14–15) at Granite City Workspaces in Historic Folsom, where local innovators will build AI-driven tools and startup prototypes. The nonprofit event, limited to 20 participants, will offer hands-on guidance and networking for technology enthusiasts.  Folsom Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • In 1856, the Sacramento Valley Railroad (the first west of the Mississippi) transformed Folsom into a vital transport hub by linking the Gold Rush town to Sacramento and spurring economic growth; the city now celebrates 170 years of its historic rail legacy.  Folsom Times
  • Folsom Concert Association will present the tribute show (How Sweet It Is: Steve Leslie Sings James Taylor) at the Harris Center for the Arts on March 15 at 2 p.m. The concert will honor James Taylor’s hits and include selections from Steve Leslie’s original work.  Folsom Times
  • Folsom community members, rail fans and historians gathered yesterday to honor Theodore Judah’s 200th birthday + the event celebrated his legacy as the engineer who built the first common-carrier railroad linking Sacramento and the city.  Folsom Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Vista Del Lago junior Ananya Purohit was named a finalist for the FIRST Leadership Award on March 1, recognizing her role in robotics + she will attend the 2026 FIRST World Championship in Houston with other global finalists.  Folsom Times
  • More than 2,400 elementary students in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District are taking part in Waves of Kindness, a social–emotional art project at seven Rancho Cordova campuses—supported by a local grant—that provides free materials for creating flag banners of kindness and connection.  Folsom Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Folsom parents met with over 20 Capitol Hill offices last week to urge lawmakers to reverse the FDA's decision denying a life-saving treatment for their daughter with a rare mitochondrial disease; they said the three-year trial helped Violet walk, speak, and avoid hospital stays.  Folsom Times
  • Sacramento County Public Health reported two measles cases in unvaccinated children. One fell ill in January while traveling and is no longer contagious, while the other was treated at Kaiser Permanente Roseville and is now isolating at home.  KCRA
