  • Organizers will host a Community Service Day brainstorming meeting on May 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Folsom Community Center — residents, local businesses, and organizations may share project ideas for the event on September 20, with proposals for school projects due by May 16 and all other submissions due by June 27.  Folsom Times

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Folsom Fire Department crews responded quickly at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday to a vehicle fire on the 1000 block of Folsom Ranch Drive—two vehicles burned while preventing damage to nearby structures—and cleared the incident by 2:13 a.m.  Folsom Times

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new AC Hotel by Marriott is rising on what was once a parking area near Dave and Buster's at Palladio and will offer 130 guest rooms with upscale features when it opens in spring 2026—marking the largest expansion of the center since 2010.  Folsom Times

CRIME NEWS

  • On Thursday at 8:30 a.m., a prisoner was stabbed in the yard at Folsom State Prison in an incident suspected to be an attempted homicide—staff observed the injuries, called 911, provided first aid, and transferred the inmate to an outside medical facility while two other inmates were placed in restricted housing.  KCRA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Folsom Concert Association will host So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience on Sunday, May 18 with performances at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Broadway star Robert Neary will perform 24 hit songs & share stories to support local music programs.  Folsom Times
  • Today at 7 p.m., Powerhouse Entertainment in Historic Folsom launches its music weekend with local favorite Granite City 909 (honoring Folsom’s past) as it opens a series of live shows. Later acts include Get Lucky Band at 10 p.m. Friday, Ticket to Ride at 3 p.m. Saturday, Y2K Live at 10 p.m. Saturday, and Powerhouse of Blues at 3 p.m. Sunday (all events are 21+).  Folsom Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers and state officials reported progress in easing motorized boat restrictions at Folsom Lake due to a golden mussel threat—Assemblyman Josh Hoover said state parks are planning decontamination protocols and red seal inspections to help boaters regain access.  Folsom Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • As summer break nears, co-parents in Folsom may face schedule conflicts and emotional strain amid Mental Health Awareness Month—Tiffany L. Andrews, a family law attorney, advises clear scheduling, steady routines, and mediation to support children’s well-being. Her recommendations aim to help families manage disruptions and prepare for changes ahead.  Folsom Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Developers filed a proposal with the city to build the Folsom Ranch Sports Complex on a 21-acre site south of Highway 50, and officials are reviewing its environmental analysis. If approved, the 410,000-square-foot facility with three NHL-size ice sheets and an outdoor turf field will break ground next year—promising new jobs and revenue for the area.  KCRA
