  • Herbie, a five-year-old North American Black Bear, has become the permanent resident of the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary after his previous facility closed—he was transferred by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and now has a safe, enriching home. Visitors can see him during zoo hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Sunday—last admission is at 2:30 p.m.  Folsom Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Folsom Cordova Unified School District hosted International Night at Cordova High where students, families and teachers shared music, dance and cultural exhibits—adding a lively fashion show and food trucks to celebrate local diversity. The event highlighted student creativity and community unity.  Folsom Times
  • Local publisher Bill Sullivan recalled warm childhood memories from trips to downtown Placerville, where simple routines like Bactine sprays, knee patches, and Hostess fruit pies+ all taught him the value of family and tradition on Mother’s Day.   • Back Bistro’s Saturday Night Live Music Series hosts The B-Side Band today at 230 Palladio Parkway, Suite 1201 in Folsom and the band plays 70s dance hits and classic covers. The series will continue until June 28—with shows on May 17, May 24, May 31, June 7, June 14, June 21, and June 28—with free live music paired with fine dining.  Folsom Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from the Folsom Cordova Unified School District attended the 58th annual SkillsUSA California Leadership & Skills Conference in San Bernardino County—competing in fields like digital media, health science, engineering, and public speaking. They represented Folsom High, Cordova High, and Vista del Lago High while their teachers provided mentorship at the statewide event.  Folsom Times
