Good morning, Folsom. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 10th of June.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday, two people on the South Fork of the American River used an inflatable pool raft that hit rocks and deflated—emergency crews from the sheriff’s office, CAL FIRE, and river patrol rescued them while officials warned that rising temperatures make river outings riskier.  Folsom Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Folsom police released public crime reports from June 3 through June 8 that detail a suspected fentanyl overdose treated with Narcan, thefts including an e-bike and mountain bike, an online cake scam that stole $2K, and several arrests for domestic violence, drug possession, battery and other charges—many booked at Sacramento County Jail.  Folsom Times

FINANCE NEWS

  • Consumer Reports explains that building an emergency fund is key by calculating the cost of 3 to 6 months of essentials and opening a separate savings account; the report (which found that 59% of Americans can’t cover a sudden $1,000 expense) urges Folsom residents to set up automatic transfers (to keep their savings on track).  KCRA

HEALTH NEWS

  • An amended civil lawsuit filed by Jessie Peterson’s family alleges that Dignity Health hospitals—including Mercy Hospital of Folsom—sent hundreds of patient remains to an off-site morgue managed by Mortuary Support Services of Northern California where many bodies were kept for months without a death certificate. The complaint charges that cost-cutting measures led to gross negligence and seeks punitive damages.  KCRA
