- ➤ Local Girl Scouts in Folsom were honored with top awards for service and leadership in projects covering animal care, environmental work, and community safety. The recognitions recognized efforts like raising pet food funds, aiding dog adoptions, beautifying shelters, and organizing blood drives (among other community projects). Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom Parks and Recreation will host a community workshop on June 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Folsom Middle School multipurpose room to gather ideas for renovating the Folsom Kids Play Park—an iconic feature built by volunteers in 1993. All residents can join the family-friendly session to learn about the project and share their suggestions. Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary will host ABC Zoo Camp for children ages 5 to 7 at the Folsom Public Library from 10 a.m. until noon Monday through Wednesday during June and July, offering interactive animal activities led by experienced docents. The zoo will also host 'Bear Tracks to the Big Screen' movie night on June 20—families will watch Disney’s Brother Bear for free at 8:30 p.m. after exploring the grounds. Folsom Times

- ➤ Folsom’s Powerhouse Pub is hosting a busy weekend of live music with Friday’s Yacht Rockers set having begun on June 13 and today’s shows featuring The Collective’s dance party at 3:00 p.m. and Finesse’s Bruno Mars Tribute at 10:00 p.m. Blues artist Shane Dwight will perform on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the venue & all performances are for patrons 21 & over. - ➤ Audioboxx returned to Red Hawk Resort Casino for a live music show Friday—8 p.m. to midnight—and will perform again today—10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Folsom Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Folsom Public Library launched its Summer Reading Challenge this month—inviting readers to finish five books by July to earn rewards such as free books, book bags, and a chance to win a $100 gift card. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Folsom City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in Council Chambers at City Hall to consider the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget that shows a $3.5M gap in the General Fund - the city plans to use one-time emergency reserves and later discuss further cost-saving measures. The proposal includes no new General Fund positions and maintains flat department spending as revenues gradually rise from increased property taxes. Folsom Times
