COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local park rangers and volunteer patrols shared tips for safe use of the lower American River trails during summer. They advised users to share trails, announce their presence to horses, walk against traffic, avoid distractions from headphones, and note landmarks for location + call for help in emergencies.  Capital Public Radio

CRIME NEWS

  • On Monday a grass and brush fire near Folsom Lake on the Granite Bay shoreline burned just under half an acre of dry vegetation and was contained by local and state firefighters—fire officials suspect arson as investigators from California State Parks and local fire agencies work the scene with no injuries or property damage.  Folsom Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jessica Malone will perform free soulful Americana at the Zittel Family Amphitheater tomorrow from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.—she is part of Historic Folsom’s Summer Twilight Concert Series that invites the community to enjoy live outdoor music.  Folsom Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Last week, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved an $8.9 billion budget that restored funding for the Sheriff’s Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) and POP units and maintained the District Attorney’s ability to prosecute misdemeanors, protecting public safety for Folsom and surrounding areas. The budget also invested in road repairs, mental health and substance use treatment, and correctional facility improvements without raising taxes.  Folsom Times
