CRIME NEWS

  • A 16-year-old from Fair Oaks (Michael Ray Berry) was fatally stabbed by a Sacramento Regional Transit security guard at a bus station near Folsom Boulevard on June 19th during an altercation after he was vaping on a train, and the guard was detained while SacRT said the act was in self-defense.  KCRA

CULTURE NEWS

  • Modern Relics will perform free this Friday, June 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Folsom City Lions Park (403 Stafford Street) as part of the Summer of Music Concert Series, offering 1980s new wave hits for families and local music fans.  Folsom Times
  • The Golden Cadillacs will perform at the Zittel Family Amphitheater on June 26 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.—the free concert will offer live country rock and Americana tunes for Folsom locals under the stars.  Folsom Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • New California laws will take effect on July 1 to update subscription cancellation options, online stolen-goods rules, and guest cleaning task disclosures for short-term lodging. Other measures extend recycling payouts, emergency management compacts, mental health resource updates in schools, and health plan rules+ offer revised guidelines in key areas.  KCRA

  • Folsom's five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons committed to Brigham Young University after winning California's Gatorade State Player of the Year Award and leading Folsom High to a state title two years ago.
