- ➤ The California Department of Social Services will relaunch its SUN Bucks program for Sacramento County this summer—set to provide $120 in food benefits per eligible child in three monthly installments. The program will automatically enroll children receiving CalFresh, CalWORKs, Medi-Cal or free/reduced-price meals to help families bridge the meal gap during summer break. Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom City Council approved a new Community Facilities District for 118 planned homes in Russell Ranch—funding roads, parks and local services. The district will charge annual special taxes from $1,280 to $1,500 that will increase 2% each year to support future infrastructure. Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom City Council approved a $123.5 million budget for fiscal year 2025 to 26 that will use about $3 million from emergency reserves to cover a shortfall. The council also cut spending by suspending a $427,000 retiree health trust contribution and eliminating non-essential expenses—steps that could lead to future service cuts if costs keep rising. - ➤ On Tuesday night, the Folsom City Council approved removing on-site supervision at the Cummings Family Skate and Bike Park to save approximately $41,000 annually—and redirected $14,500 toward automated lighting controls.
