- ➤ Folsom will host 15 nonprofit fireworks booths starting Saturday, June 28 through July 4, offering safe and sane fireworks from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.—each stand was chosen through a lottery-based permit process and proceeds will support local programs such as youth sports and arts initiatives. - ➤ Folsom Pro Rodeo will run from July 3 to July 5 at Dan Russell Arena and will offer professional rodeo events, including bull riding and barrel racing, along with fireworks that mark each night of this 64-year tradition. Folsom City Council declared these dates as Western Rodeo Days—highlighting the event’s role in honoring the city’s western heritage and drawing both locals and visitors for a full festival experience. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday night, the Folsom City Council approved a $136,000 contract with Ghirardelli Associates, Inc. to inspect and test materials for the city's $1.4M pavement program. Work will begin in early July and continue through the fall—covering new asphalt, curb repairs, ADA ramps, and updated pavement markings. Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom State Prison resumed normal operations and programming after a large-scale contraband seizure resolved immediate threats inside the facility. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation reported that hundreds of prohibited items — including weapons, cell phones, and drugs — were removed statewide, and enhanced searches continue at 12 institutions to ensure safety.
