COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hands4Hope – Youth Making A Difference is collecting backpacks and supplies until July 17 to help more than 700 students start the school year. The group will host the Stuff the Bus event on July 18 near Target at the El Dorado Hills Town Center to collect donations.  Folsom Times
  • Hands4Hope – Youth Making A Difference logged a record 14,841 service hours in 2024-25, benefiting 12,700 people and animals, and honored 50 youth plus every on-campus high school leadership team—including Folsom High—with group-level President’s Volunteer Service Awards at a recent event at Placerville Gathering Place.  Folsom Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Folsom City Manager Bryan Whitemyer proposed deferring the hiring of 10 firefighter-paramedics and reducing services—known as a brownout—to save about $2 million amid a looming $3 million budget gap. The City Council will review the proposal at Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. meeting and may choose full, partial, or no deferral to balance public safety with fiscal needs.  Folsom Times
