Twin Lakes Food Bank has raised over $7,000 for its Back 2 School Extravaganza on August 1—where more than 300 students in need will receive new backpacks, school supplies, and essentials with help from local groups.

Dorothea’s Shoppe in Historic Folsom will hold its annual Christmas in July event on July 12–13—where all items will be 20% off and customers who mention the Folsom Times on July 11 will get the discount early.

The store will also offer a new collector’s class on Saturday—space is limited and participants must sign up on a first-come, first-served basis.

Habit Burger & Grill will open its second location at 3290 E.

Bidwell Street in Folsom next week—offering VIP events on July 12, 14, and 15 for early access. Local fans can enjoy drive-thru, dine-in, takeout and delivery options—getting chargrilled burgers when the restaurant opens to the public on Wednesday.

Folsom City Council voted Tuesday night to hire eight firefighter/paramedic recruits after two candidates withdrew amid budget concerns, and the new hires will report for duty on July 21 to fill key vacancies.
