- ➤ The Perseid meteor shower is underway as Earth enters three meteor debris fields including the well-known Perseids that will peak on Aug. 12—13. In areas away from city lights, people may see 50 to 70 meteors per hour — though the 84% full moon will hide many of them. KCRA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State Senator Angelique Ashby paused SB 802 — a proposal to create a regional housing agency to manage homelessness funds — after Folsom and other local leaders said they were not consulted; she said she will work with officials and may reintroduce the bill next year if talks do not lead to a solution. Capital Public Radio
