- ➤ Registrations are open for the inaugural Sippin’ & Tossin’ Cornhole Classic at the Folsom Community Center at 52 Natoma Street on Thursday, September 5 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., which will raise funds for the Riggins Ross Foundation that supports families facing infant loss. Teams of two pay $250 while general admission tickets cost $40. Folsom Times
- ➤ Residents gathered across Folsom on Tuesday evening for National Night Out 2025 as neighborhood events featured food, games and visits from police, firefighters and community officials—despite a vegetation fire on Baldwin Dam Road that required a brief response. - ➤ Folsom artist Joanne Tepper Saffren will open her solo exhibition Trees at Axis Gallery in Sacramento on Sept. 5—showing cyanotype and anthrotype works inspired by the region's ancient oak trees—and it will run through Sept. 28. A public reception is set for Sept. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. and proceeds from select prints will benefit the Sacramento Tree Foundation. Folsom Times

- ➤ Phil Leonhardt — a former math teacher and instructional leader at Vista del Lago — has returned as the new principal, replacing Kim Moore and bringing extensive classroom experience to the school. He will lead Vista del Lago into the 2025–26 school year with a deep commitment to a safe and high-quality education for every student. Folsom Times

- ➤ After a standout rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento’s Jaylen Wells returned home to host a youth basketball camp at Sacramento High School this past Sunday where 100 players from age 9 to high school practiced drills and learned about his climb from Folsom Bulldogs to the NBA—he aimed to inspire young athletes with his journey.
