CRIME NEWS

  • A Folsom High School student reported a stolen E-bike on Wednesday, and police tracked the bike with its built-in device—arresting two suspects and recovering the property.  Folsom Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • This Labor Day weekend, Apple Hill opens its gates in Camino and invites families to enjoy fresh apples + sweet treats, craft fairs, and rides that have been part of a cherished local tradition for over 60 years. More than 50 family-run farms and wineries will host activities along Highway 50 as visitors celebrate the arrival of fall.  Folsom Times
  • The Gallery at 48 Natoma in Folsom opened the exhibition Acts of Reciprocity by mixed media artist Tamara Murphy on August 29—her work will be on view until October 23. A public reception took place on August 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. where visitors met the artist and enjoyed light refreshments.  Folsom Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Folsom Cordova Unified School District started the 2025–26 school year with a focus on building strong connections among students, families, educators, and community partners — the district calls its approach the Warm Demander that pairs high care with high academic expectations. Superintendent Erik Swanson said local collaboration will help students thrive.  Folsom Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Folsom City has issued its Labor Day schedule with planned closures for city offices and key facilities including the public library, sports complex, and art center on Monday, September 1 while garbage collection, parks, and local attractions remain available and transit runs on a holiday schedule except for the Folsom Stage Line bus—residents should call 916-461-6400 for urgent issues and use 9-1-1 for emergencies.  Folsom Times
  • As Labor Day weekend begins, Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is stepping up water patrols along the Sacramento and American Rivers to ensure safe boating amid hot weather—Deputy Michael Nofziger said officers will issue warnings and citations to boaters speeding in no wake zones or operating without a boater card. The increased presence aims to educate boaters and prevent accidents on busy waterways.  KCRA

  • Red Hawk Resort Casino closed out August with free Stage Bar shows as country singer Brodie Stewart performed Friday night from 8 p.m. to midnight and The Night Owls entertained Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.  Folsom Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Folsom Bulldogs beat Serra 56—42 in a nonleague football game on Saturday in San Mateo. Quarterback Ryder Lyons scored seven touchdowns—four passing and three rushing—and critical defensive plays helped secure the win.  Folsom Times
