A proposed utility-scale solar project along Prairie City SVRA's boundary is under review, and nearly 500 local groups fear it will harm off-road events like the Hangtown Motocross Classic — they warn that the 200-megawatt solar system with battery storage may reduce open space and change the park’s look. County officials will soon decide on the plan as riders, conservationists, and local business advocates urge that the park remain accessible and true to its long-held recreational use.

Castle Park, Folsom’s wooden playground built by local volunteers in 1996, will close in the first week of September for a $1.1 million renovation led by Folsom Parks and Recreation.

The project will update safety standards and preserve its charm—residents can support the effort by buying personalized bricks or fence slats as community fundraising continues with construction set to begin in October.

Folsom will host the 33rd Annual Renaissance Faire at Lions Park on September 27th and 28th, where jousting, feasting, and artisan booths will bring historical pageantry to life.
