➤ Spirit Airlines announced it will discontinue service this fall at a dozen airports including Sacramento International Airport, Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport and San José Mineta International Airport—operations will end the week of Oct 2 following a recent bankruptcy filing. KCRA

➤ On Thursday, Officer Daren Prociw ended more than 30 years of service with the Folsom Police Department as he left the station for his final shift, receiving a gauntlet salute from fellow officers, the fire department — and city staff in appreciation of his dedication. His career included roles in Mounted Patrol and Crisis Intervention and brought him awards as well as recognition for the Santa Sleigh project. Folsom Times
