- ➤ Parents may now enter their little cowboys and cowgirls in the lottery for mutton busting at the second annual Sacramento County Sheriff’s Rodeo at Dan Russell Arena; the online entry runs from Tuesday, September 8 at 8 a.m. until Tuesday, September 16 at 5 p.m. Ten children weighing 60 lbs or less will be selected on October 2 and notified by email, with the ride set for October 4 — a valid rodeo ticket is required for entry. - ➤ Folsom city leaders are exploring changes to fire services to trim a $3 million budget deficit and have formed a Fire Services Exploratory committee that includes Mayor Sarah Aquino, Councilmember Barbara Leary and two Sacramento Metro Fire Board members. City Manager Bryan Whitemyer said that while no station will close, shifting crews to cut overtime by $1 million may slow response times—city officials plan to review proposals at community meetings starting September 23.
