COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Demolition began this week at the iconic Castle Park on 201 Prewett Drive in Willow Creek Estates as crews removed the old play structure to make way for a safer design. The City Council approved an $81,000 design contract and community fundraising is underway—construction will begin in October and the park is expected to open in April 2026—ensuring a renewed landmark for Folsom families.  Folsom Times

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Yesterday, Intel and NVIDIA announced a $5B partnership to develop custom processors that combine Intel’s x86 chips with NVIDIA’s AI systems for both consumer and enterprise products. The deal comes as Intel restructures its Folsom campus amid layoffs and plans to sell its Prairie City Road site — a major shift for this long-time local employer.  Folsom Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, the Stage Bar at Red Hawk Resort Casino hosts free live music as Sons of Rock and Roll perform classic rock from 8 p.m. until midnight—Saturday will feature Sacramento-based singer Cynthia Renee performing original country tunes from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.  Folsom Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Folsom will host the NASA International Space Apps Challenge Hackathon at Folsom Lake College on October 4—5, where coders, scientists, artists, and students will team up to solve challenges using NASA’s open data. The free event runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with advance registration required.  Folsom Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Folsom crews are making steady progress on a water pipeline project that will improve water reliability for over 25,000 connections, with work continuing through October along East Bidwell—residents may face brief lane closures and service interruptions while road improvements and pressure testing are completed.  Folsom Times
  • Folsom community leaders and officials honored seven first responders from the Police and Fire Departments at the Public Safety Awards Luncheon held Thursday at the Community Center. The Rotary Club sponsored the event — supported by the Sierra Law Enforcement Chaplaincy — to recognize their exceptional dedication to public safety.  Folsom Times
