- ➤ Hands4Hope – Youth Making A Difference launched its 16th Annual Warm & Fuzzy Drive to collect new clothing and blankets for local families to stay warm this winter. Donations are accepted at sites including Folsom Lake Surf Club from October 6 to November 14 while organizers prepare a Blanket Making Party on November 15. Folsom Times
- ➤ Historic Folsom Ice Rink announced that it will host Donate and Skate events to support local nonprofits—Powerhouse Ministries will benefit on November 18, Twin Lakes Food Bank on December 1, and Sweet Dreams Foundation on January 13. Guests will skate at sessions starting at 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. while $4 from each ticket aids community programs and donations for Christmas Around Town are welcomed. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Folsom Public Library will host author Cindy Fazzi on Saturday, October 11 at 2 p.m.—she will explain hardboiled crime fiction and present her new Domingo the Bounty Hunter series during a free talk that includes a Q&A session and book signing. Folsom Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, Folsom police officers and the volunteer CAPS team joined students and families at Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary and Folsom Hills Elementary for Bike and Walk to School Day—promoting a safe and healthy start to the school day. The event is part of a national effort that encourages walking, biking, and scootering to school. Folsom Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Folsom City will start a water and sewer rate study to assess costs and pricing fairness—officials will hold a public meeting on October 21 at City Hall to gather community input. The consultant team will review the system's expenses and propose changes for future financial planning. Folsom Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ NAMI California will host its annual mental health conference at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento on Oct. 16 and 17—drawing family members, educators, and mental health professionals to discuss care access and policy solutions. KCRA
