EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Three schools in the Folsom Cordova Unified School District were named to the 2025 California Honor Roll based on CAASPP test scores from 2023 through 2025. Russell Ranch, Riverview STEM and Blanche Sprentz Elementary earned the honor for strong academic performance and progress in closing achievement gaps—joining a statewide list of top-performing institutions. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SacRT celebrates 20 years of light rail service in Folsom, which began on October 15, 2005 and has connected local riders to jobs, schools, and shops. Today, the agency will host a Rider Appreciation Pop-Up from 7 to 9 a.m. at Iron Point Station—thanking riders and outlining future improvements. Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom City Council approved an agreement with Leathers and Associates to guide a community-build replacement for Castle Park’s play structure valued at $111,569 from the Parks and Recreation Equipment Fund. The contract shifts the build from a traditional approach to a volunteer-led effort and a design reveal is scheduled for October 29 at 6:15 p.m. at Oak Chan Elementary School—details on volunteer sign-up and build scheduling will be shared later. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ At Tuesday's city council meeting, Mayor Sarah Aquino honored the Folsom Lake Surf Soccer Club ECNL Regional League 2011 Boys team for winning a national title by presenting an official Resolution of Commendation—marking a proud moment for the local youth sports community. The resolution applauded the team's discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship after they claimed top titles in their league and cups. Folsom Times
