➤ Folsom’s Witches on the Lake event drew over 1,400 costumed paddlers from multiple launch sites on Lake Natoma and raised over $10,000 to support children battling cancer through Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance — it was organized by local realtor Janay Taua. Folsom Times

EDUCATION NEWS

➤ Folsom High School ninth grader Isabel Feng was named a Division Finalist in the MTNA Southwest Division Junior Piano Competition—she earned the honor by winning the California State Junior Piano Competition at San Jose State University, and winners will be announced in mid-January. Folsom Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ California now bans declawing cats, stopping veterinarians and owners from performing the procedure except when it is medically necessary (per the law), and the rule went into effect immediately after Governor Newsom signed it on Oct.9. Capital Public Radio
