- ➤ Folsom officials and longtime volunteers unveiled the refreshed design for Castle Park on Wednesday night, showing a remodeled play structure that retains the iconic dragon climber—now with ADA-compliant upgrades and new zones for toddlers and older children. Construction began this fall and community build events are scheduled for February and March, with a grand reopening planned for April. Folsom Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Folsom City Council approved design funding for a new 12-acre neighborhood park at Mangini Parkway and Empire Ranch Road, setting aside $706,614 and hiring Wilson Design Studio for the design phase. The park will include sports fields, a playground, and other amenities and is planned to be designed in 2026—construction will begin later as funding is secured. Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom City Council approved a $213K contract with Capra Environmental Services to clear ladder fuels and create shaded fuel breaks at 20 open-space sites as the final phase of a three-year wildfire prevention plan. Capra will begin work this winter—completion is expected by March 16 to help keep homes and open areas safe. Folsom Times
- ➤ Folsom City Council approved a $305,703 contract to replace nine aging rooftop HVAC units at the public library. City staff said the project – contracted with LEED Mechanical Inc. through the CMAS cooperative purchasing program – will improve energy efficiency and reduce repair costs. Folsom Times
