- ➤ Folsom residents, city officials and local businesses are working to rebuild Castle Park—a cherished playground built in 1996—for a safer and more accessible future. Volunteers and donors are encouraged to help now as the new design, shaped by community feedback, sets the stage for a rebuild scheduled for February and March. Folsom Times
- ➤ At Tuesday’s Folsom City Council meeting, Mayor Sarah Aquino and council members honored Kikkoman Foods Plant Manager Kiyotaka Nagai for his exceptional leadership and community spirit during his tenure since 2018—he will soon return to Japan for his next assignment. His work boosted record production levels and strengthened local ties—supporting events and scholarship programs that benefited Folsom over the years. Folsom Times
- ➤ Construction crews have begun building the Historic Folsom Ice Rink at 905 Sutter Street in the Historic District, and the rink will open Nov. 8 as a seasonal holiday tradition. Workers are installing the framework — the refrigeration system and lighting will soon be ready for daily skating sessions for local families. Folsom Times
- ➤ Twin Lakes Food Bank has launched its emergency Families Can’t Wait Campaign to help Folsom residents as halted CalFresh benefits will leave over 4,000 without aid starting November 1—financial donations are needed to meet the surge in food support that has already increased by 35 percent this week. Executive Director Lisa Tuter said the food bank is stretched thin and relies on every donation to keep essential groceries available. Folsom Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ At The Relationship Elevation and Learning Institute in Folsom, therapy records remain private and insurers cannot see session notes without a proper legal reason (under HIPAA). Jessica LePage-Smith (the institute's founder) said courts in Kentucky and Texas have ruled against insurers using records for 'provider education,' a practice that may harm patient care.
