- ➤ City Council announced Tuesday winners of the 2025 Folsom Holiday Lights Contest after judging 60 entries (5 categories). Awards went to 488 Rockport Circle, 316 Turn Pike Drive, 275 Thorndike Way, Ledgemont Court and Sutter Street, and winners will be honored at an upcoming Council meeting. Folsom Times
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Anton Barbeau will perform 'Xmas Song' during the 2025 Winter Jam on Christmas Day— the special will air at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on KCRA 3 and at 10:30 p.m. on My58. KCRA
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ SMUD crews worked along Richards Boulevard as they prepped for a holiday storm expected to bring high winds up to 60 mph starting tonight and lasting through Thursday morning. The teams remain on standby to address any power outages if trees or branches hit the lines. KCRA
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ Kathryn McCall, CAPTRUST's vice president and financial advisor, shared budgeting tips on Dec. 23 to help Folsom residents plan for 2026 by urging them to leave behind unnecessary debt, cut annuities, and set up an emergency fund (6 months of expenses). KCRA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SMUD crews are on standby to quickly restore power if outages occur during the upcoming winter storm—strong winds and rain may drop tree limbs across neighborhoods; residents are urged to report outages using the mobile app. Folsom Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Sacramento County reported Tuesday its first flu-related death of the year when a child without underlying conditions died from flu complications. Health officials urge residents to get vaccinated and follow prevention measures as flu cases rise before the holidays. KCRA
